Car related: Did you know George Carlin’s brother Pat worked a Pontiac Dealership in the 70s?

Kinja'd!!!

He sold George a Trans Am (presumably the one in the photo).

I'll never forget the day he died. He was a big deal to my friend and I and died on the morning of our math 10 provincial exam

yep. they get all up in arms about abortion, but when someone walks into an elementary school and blows away 20 little kids, they throw up their hands and say “there’s nothing we can do about it!”

these shitfucks don’t care about kids, they only care about controlling women.

The thing that still sticks with me, is you can watch him abandon the jokes as his career goes on. Watch like this last three specials. The 3rd to last he still has a few actual jokes in there, the 2nd to last, he has like two - and they feel incongruous, the very last, he’s just straight up listing things that are fucked up about our society, and it’s so ridiculous he doesn’t have to add jokes.

Oh yeah, “somebody, please think of the children!” is just the slimiest, manipulative bullshit. It’s like the old lady who’s scared of airplanes saying she won’t fly because her little dog Poopsie doesn’t like it. Just a bunch of selfish cowards too chickenshit to own up to the fact they just don’t personally want something.

For example, w e can’t have gay characters in a movie because “how will I explain it to my kids!?” -but we all know the kids aren’t the ones that need an adult to explain something perfectly simple to them .

What disturbs me the most is that we’re still debating this shit decades later.

Countries are turning far right... Mexico (which is supposed to be rulled by a liberal guy) just passed indiscriminate minimum sentencing laws for ANY drug offense.

I hate to come off as a “smarter than thou” sort, but anything religion touches becomes stupided-up to the point logic cannot rescue it. All this stuff will never make sense, and never be reasonably solved, so long as people go to church and also vote.

In the case of the United States, the thing that is most bothersome, is it is the people who howl loudest about how much they respect the constitution and The Bill of Rights - who’re always trying to force through all means possible, at every possible moment, a connection between church and state.

Constitutions don’t actually mean anything. The respect people have for a law, or for any type of concept stems from a feeling of union, and a belief that it’s true.

When people say that they respect the constitution above all else, what they’re saying is that they don’t have an open mind, and that they respect the interpretetion they have of of the document... and not anyone elses.

It's the same here, even if our constitution was designed to be modified with the times. We had six straight years of liberal Supreme Court decisions and interpretation of laws. For a blistering moment we were on the verge of becoming a liberal nation. But then the "liberal" party comes into power and says that they would put abortion to a popular vote (even if the supreme court already said it should be legalized), that they're going to cut taxes, cut consumer protection, cut special education, make more centralized decisions and also why the hell not add minimum sentencing laws.
